We want to give you the possibility to play the new Episodes ahead of time before they are released on the AppStore and contribute to the development of Minigore in a way that goes beyond commenting on the blog. We are going to do that by opening up 99 new spots for beta-testers. This is not going to make up for all the delay in bringing out the update, but I am sure it is going to make 99 Minigore fans very happy. We want to show you that despite any hardships and regardless of the number of rejections, Mountain Sheep is holding onto the promises made.
So send us the UDID of your iPhone or iPod along with information of what device you have, how much you play and your age to the address above. Active members of the Minigore blog, top Minigore players based on the online leaderboard and Touch Arcade's Minigore thread contributors will get a priority, so make sure to mention who you are if you are involved in one of the aforementioned.
Lastly, Episode 2 has been re-submitted and every measure taken to ensure it's free from corruption. We are also trying to arrange a fast lane for it in the approval process.
Well that sucks but thank you very much for giving us a chance to finally play the great update! :D

I am always on my ipod, from when I wake up, until i go to bed. I am 18 years old. I have been checking multiple times a day on your blog for updates since i bought your application. I also am following your tweets from my twitter account, and check that regularly. At the moment, I have all my applications on my ipod lined up in the order I play them the most, and minigore is first on the list. I have gotten at least 10 on my friends to purchase this game after i recognized the great gameplay it holds. My twitter name is zackz115. ReplyDeleteIf anyone needs to know your UDID *don't tell your UDID to anyone to anyone you don't trust!* then go into iTunes, click on the summary tab for your device, and click on the "Serial Number" are so it changes to "Identifier (UDID)"

Hey hey, calm down. SFK said to put it on Cydia, which is legal, NOT Installous, which is illegal. Cydia would be a great idea, since the Cydia store offers secure payment and unfiltered, instantly-accepted publishing and updates. I do hope SFK isn't one of those kids who pirates EVERYTHING and confused Cydia and Installous, though. (Note to Mountain Sheep: if it turns out he does pirate apps remember to report his UDID to Apple, if you have it.)

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but Apple has a pattern of accepting all major companies' apps instantly and inventing bullshit excuses for indy developers. And how did it take 2 weeks for apple to realize it was a corrupted binary? While The Sims 3 and other flagship apps crash like a drunk driver on an autobahn?

ReplyDeleteI just hope that the beta tester will do their JOB and not only playing...they are there to TEST the game and watch every details! Not only play the game for having it before everyone! And I know what I mean! A friend of mine I've been a beta tester of Prince of Persia, and he got to do the same level a lot of time trying ot find bugs and error!

ReplyDeleteHello I`m an apple worker and I like you to know that I`ve checked up on history of Minigore`s update submissions and I can assure you this is now Apple`s fault , but the result of Mountain Sheep rushing to get this update released for you fans, but I can assure you it is not apples fault, I heard one of you say we release Major companies games without even testing it , but I can tell you those apps do not crash as much as Minigore did , we let an app be released if it works after reseting,syncing from computer, or reinstalling, these are the main things that we look for as solutions for apps that crash , but they rarely do, but minigore crashed more than we allow not meeting standards,it even shut down one of the test ipods.

We certainly don't want to blame everything on Apple. The developers (that's us) need to reduce the chances of crashing as much as possible, and that is what we have done to the extent our internal resources permit. We take full responsibility of all bugs that make it through our QA and we don't expect Apple to approve an app that is crashing extensively. What we do want to point out is there is room for improvement in the approval *process* itself. The key points being
- The wildly varying duration of the approval process.
- No reporting on the status of the submission (such as current place in the queue).
- In case of any issues (including non-binary issues like unacceptable keywords), the binary must always be re-submitted from the beginning, causing it to fall to the back of the queue.
The last point is particularly important. If you would like to have a chat about the process and for me to elaborate on this some more, fire up an e-mail from http://www.mountainsheep.net/index.php?catid=4 and I'll get back to you. :)

TO boost sale do something with a popular app like doodle jump, knights' onrush, the shooting bear thing. or pocket god cause when the doodle jump concept was taken into pocket god, doodle jump skyrocketed into the top 25 paid apps. And you could also use a lite version of minigore. You did it with sway but that apps terrific(I have it) but not selling at all like this game in a few weeks without the update. Never raise the price. I dracula was number 1 untill they updated it and added two more bucks to the price people were turned off. Also if possible, add people from popular TV cartoon shows like south park and family guy or cartoonized versions of celebreties or supereroes like batman.Please add new villains soon. I am getting bored of just shooting furies.

The furries are a main idea in the game, please dont change that! Bosses might be a good idea, if you were to add a storymode. A story mode might be really cool.

ReplyDeleteI'm all for the Cydia Store idea, that's the very foundation of the Cydia store : independent apps that aren't bound by the authoritarian hold apple has on its appstore.
I'm positive I'd be a good beta tester and would get into the list (a lot of experience and knowledge about programming, the iPhone and it's OS, and programming /for/ iPhoneOS. Also, I could help mountainsheep fend off cheap pirates.) so that's fine for me, too, Ima send an email as soon as I get access to my PC. (note: I'm helpless against ninja-pirates, though... Let's see if anybody gets what I'm talking about)

ReplyDeleteI`m sorry Kimmo , but there is not much I can do to accelerate the apple verification process,but I myself can test it and tell you any bugs that you have in a much shorter time than the actual verification process , It is just that I cannot actually send out the update itself into the App Store because well that is not my position I just make sure the sound on the apps work and that they don`t freeze up when you play your own Library Music.

I also noticed one of you say my grammar was to bad to be an apple employee? We don`t usually type out things we use the basic rules apple gives us , such as a link,or we just use a grammar program which I don`t use only at work.

Talking about zombies and episode 4 but at this day we still wait for a legendary episode 2 ! Could U remind me the definition of a "vapor game" ? Why did U made Betas just for 99 players ? ReplyDeleteNow you are asking to become a beta tester after convincing everyone that you work for Apple. I imagine it was quite simple to create a hotmail account that is not mentioned anywhere on the Internet. A personal email that cannot be found on any social networking site. Surely someone that works with computers would be using these sites?
The first paragraph shows no knowledge on the operation of a complex environment such as the app store. Apps are published, not "sent". Also, if you are claiming that you deal solely with sound how can you suddenly find all the bugs, especially without any code. Unless you're some sort of uncompiling ninja? The last paragraph of what you just said makes no sense at all, it implies that Apple don't write anything down which is clearly a lie. How are rules a substitute for typing? How? And what is a grammar program - that you "DON'T use only at work"?
I also doubt that any Apple employee would risk their position by offering to test the app outside the comforts of an Apple testing facility. Especially so publically on a blog providing a full name and a personal email.
One last thing, no one in the world spells their last name "Donavon". Everyone except you seems to spell it "Donovon" but no doubt there will be yet another excuse to cover that up.
I'm always looking out for this blog, good luck hammering the update through. You better pray to God that it actually works this time. I can't wait to play Episode 2.

Complex enviroment of the appstore? EVERYTHING can be simplified. He just mentioned what his part in the approval process of applications was. 'Published' vs. 'sent', in this case they can be nearly similes. All that is, is just a case of choosing which word to use.

Oh, about bugs, which are really known as logic errors-yes, I'm a computer programmer-they can be found without using the actual code.
The complier doesn't detect logic errors, hence the use of the name 'bugs'.
They're almost always detected on execution of the program, in this case, Minigore.
Any common person could detect a bug by simply playing the game.
Again, you're a fool.
The only thing the last paragraph implies is that they use templates for anything they have to report on. Programmers do the same, sort of.
Its always best to re-use code you've already written, so you don't waste time writing something you could have simply copied and pasted.
A grammar program you don't use at home could be an advanced spellcheck and sentence structure correcter.
A piece of compiler programs we use detects syntax errors, syntax = grammar of writing code.
About him publically doing this... well don't underestimate the stupidity of people.
I believe he is the real deal, since I have knowledge of how Apple works, being an Apple fantic myself.

ReplyDeleteAfter playing the beta some more I think I would a change in the 3 clover system. Here is just a suggestion and open for debate and I apologize if it was already brought up. I would like to have a chance to earn back health by getting 3 clovers, then if I am at full health he would go into beast mode. It would be a nice "risk/reward" situation. If are on your last health, getting 3 clovers will keep you in the game longer than going into beast mode.

I see where your coming from but beast mode is better , but that would take away from the game a little , but even it out making you get probably 5 bandages or something in return for a health also making them hard to drop
ReplyDelete@Ball Zach...I agree, beast mode is better with getting a quick point burst in mind, but the health option offers longer game play. Its tough to really decide either way.

...What if beast mode also upped your life one step, you would get the best of both worlds.

ReplyDeleteAnon: If we only wanted add stuff like new maps, downloading the updates directly from our server would be doable technically. We want to expand on the game modes, add bosses and fix bugs, and for that we need to go through the AppStore update route.
Ronald Donavon: I understand. Are you specifically in a testing position or are you familiar with the tech on the API/code level? There are some audio-related bugs pending and I would love some input on those.
Chusky: Hopefully you don't have to wait long anymore. Personally, I'm predicting Saturday and unless Apple manages to find something our QA has not been able to, it is going through. Most of the betas have been handed out (see the latest post on this blog).
Vaporware (or game) is software that has not been released and is unlikely to ever get released. That hardly describes Minigore, but I understand your frustrations and believe me when I say the delay frustrates us as much as anyone.
Betas are limited to 99 participants, because 100 devices is the limit for how many devices you can assign to one developer account (need to save one for us to be able to actually test the game ourselves on that account).
I hope this clears some things up.
The Reese's: We don't want to replace the beast mode with health, but we are considering other means of regaining health.

ReplyDeleteI'm familiar with the tech on a code level, I'm not sure if you read my previous post, but I personally think I'd be a great addition to your beta testers.
I'd be more prone to spot any bugs in gameplay, audio playback, and other things that Ronald mentioned.
I sent an e-mail already, with a clip of my highest score, I'm not sure if you read it, but I do play Minigore extensively.
Which brings me to another point: there's a bug in Openfeint.
I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced it, but it never updated my highscores after they passed the 2000s point.
